Are you a hybrid scrapper? What kinds of projects do you make? What papers work best for printing for these kinds of projects? Let's share!

Well, I have done that! Usually it's because I picked up items while on a trip that I want to put on a page with my photos. So, I digi scrap most of the page and add the items. I print on photo paper for the most part, but use Stampin' Up cardstock for the rest. I used to be a Stampin' Up Demo and have lots of inventory!!!

I'm usually printing my travel books when I do that and I print 12 x 12 or print on smaller paper and place on cardstock. My Italy book has 48 pages and is heavy! But, I went to England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales and that sucker has over 80 pages and I can barely pick it up!!! :( I tried to make it small!! :)

Sandy knows I paper scrap! I love hybrid, I love making little mini albums, 3D projects, cards and even some scrapbook pages. I prefer the ease of digital and the creative options that you have.

Too funny, Ms Katy. I am a stampin up demo! I love their cardstock, it's very nice to work with and to print. I also love Epson paper matte, you can print the digi kits and use them that way. Too much fun!

I have to laugh as I was a stampin' up demostrator too! But I gave all the stamps to my kids!

Are you still stampin Laura?? I have a bunch of stamps still.

I hybrid some...usually my own methods of combining digi and paper.
Here is a neat gift I made combining elements from Sandy's school days digi kit and a photo I took. Sorry the faces are blurred.
This one is an 8x10.

I do hybrid as well, I love making mini albums, quote books, calendars , address books , there's a birthday calendar on my next to do list.
I usually print on normal cardstock , smooth, hammered, linen whatever takes my fancy.

he hee hee, Yes Michi, I'm still stampin! LOL Stamping and loving it!:D So what are you doing with that collection of stamps???:)

I am creating a mini album right now all about my little dog, Peanut. It's called the Peanut Gallery! I will have pictures and directions on my blog when it's finished, sneak a peek when you can!

And Sandy, I know you love hybrid, too!

So many stampers!!! I have to admit that I never had stamp sessions. I bought enough for myself to keep at it and even got a promotion!!! I did go to one convention...in Florida!
I still do a little but like to do digi cards more! Sometimes I combine those. Laura, I love your album name!! Too cute! I love the word art in your photo, Michi! Creative!

I LOVE this thread! :D I also participate in the "Dark side".....:rofl2: Actually, I started there and then went digi. But I truly cannot give up the tactile part of scrapping. And I still maintain that my dogs look better with a fine coat of glitter.....

I make books, mini albums, calendars, cards, cards, and more cards, altered items, home decor items, you name it! But I still haven't figured out how to ctrl+z in "real life"....darn it!

Laura supports my habit....she keeps me supplied with hints and tempts me with all those fabulous SU catalogues. But that's OK...I get even with her by enabling her with my list of "cheapie" buy it here sites, too.....ROFL01

I so some hybrid scrapbooking, but mostly digital. There are some items that I want to use the actual item in a scrapbook, so I do hybrid for those pages. I love to make cards also, both digi and hybrid. I do like Epson paper for my cards. I too have quite a few rubber stamps, but I don't use them as much as I used to.

I love to do my album covers hybrid. Everything else is digital. This past year, I have been ordering papers from Red River. Excellent paper! My printer is Epson 1400.

Oh I agree Miss Pepper, the Red River paper is gorgeous. I also like all the Epson papers - I have an R1800.

I am not known as 'Serial Crafter' for nothing! I do stamping, digi, cutting and sticking and altered art. I have a big bag of 'rubbish' waiting to be turned into desirable objects. Sadly, this does not happen that often, so I just have a big bag of rubbish in my room :rofl2:

And I haven't even mentioned the textile crafting I do..or rather don't do that often. I need to retire.

It does not necessarily get better after retirement, Janice. I have several drawers and shelves full of wood items to be painted and several gourds are waiting along with an ostrich egg. What do I do? I sit at the computer! Days need to get still longer LOL

I used to make hybrid Christmas cards, but the last couple of years have been "cheaters" - where the entire exterior is digital and I print my newsletter inside the card instead of a verse.

But if I make hybrid cards - I design what I call a "postcard", print it, glue it to colored cardstock. And, that's the only way I get to use my colored cardstock, since colored cardstock won't print well. I even create the verse on a postcard and glue that inside.

I do! I'm not good at card making or stampin, but I have made fancy padded photo albums, and scrapbooks with lots of "layers" of stuff.....ever since I was a teenager! I ABSOLUTELY love the combination of digital and traditional, but in the past decade have stuck almost exclusively with the no-fuss, no mess, more space-and cost-effective world of digital. I am more seriously "into" photography, and photo-focus on my layouts (did I have to mention that!!!) and that's my world for now. I LOVE to sew too, and can't wait to get back to some major projects with machine embroidery. LOVE ALL handcrafts and just about anything creative. Thanks to Laura and Traci, I'm headed for another world with paper AND photo crafting!

I just had to show you all my finished mini album. I just finished it in time for a class I was teaching. You can print your own digi papers to use or purchase pre printed papers. It was fun, papers scattered all over, little clips and brads, punches, lots of ephemera, glue and I was happy! Have a look HERE (http://maggiemaydesigns.blogspot.com/2010/07/mini-album-peanut-gallery.html) at the Peanut Gallery!:D

I agree, Laura, that is a cute album (and name) you made for Peanut!

But I'm digital all the way!!! I could not imagine the stuff I'd have around if I went hybrid - I am totally "digitally" unorganized - I probably would be in over my head if I went hybrid! I did order a couple of hybrid kits recently, one for a (pizza) card and one for a (strawberry) box. They were so cute, I couldn't resist - BUT I haven't attempted to try them yet!!!!:D

Diane....I just HAVE to know....what's organized??? :rofl2: If you think my "real" craft room is bad, you should see my hard drives! (Yes, I said drives, plural!) Given that I've been collecting digi-stuff since around 1996, you can imagine what my drives and CD collection looks like! Scares the monkeys outa me!

I love to look and touch but every thing I've purchased hybrid-wise is still sitting on the shelf. Along with a lot of fabric and other goodies. (I just really need to retire) the only thing I seem to have time for is printing photo cards. At least I get to stick them to the card stock!

Diane....I just HAVE to know....what's organized??? :rofl2: !

I was hoping you'd tell ME, Traci!! Besides my C drive(160MB--always filling up--have to transfer to EHD), I have a 1TB EHD that's about 2/3 full - but it's only been since 2007ish or so! How big are your hard drives(s). If they are each at least 1TB and overflowing, I would say you are more disorganized than me (if that is possible:rofl2:!!!!)

Oh, gosh, Diane! I have two internal HDD's...one is 350GB, one is 500GB, and then I have three EHD's (right now). I have a 1TB, a 250GB and a 350GB. That doesn't even begin to take into account the 350GB HDD in my laptop and assorted flash drives.....PLUS my server, which has (right now) 500GB......Scary, huh?

That's what I was thinking, too, Traci. Roxi, here we come! Fabric and ribbon and buttons oh my!

Yes, Roxi, I made the whole album from a few pieces of cardboard. I am writing the tutorial right now and will post it tomorrow on my blog. You could have so much fun covering the cardboard with a little fabric, that would be gorgeous.

Me, too, Laura....in fact, I'm making a card for a friend right now (or was till I came to the forum...lol) and needed a matching stripe paper. So out comes Photoshop and voila! Striped paper for my background! :D

I'm always last minute--so I normally just buy the cards I need to send. I used to print them out with card-making software until my computer crash of Feb '10 and haven't reinstalled the programs I used. Seems to take me longer to set them up in Elements, but I'm getting better, so maybe someday I will have a selection here to choose from :rofl2:!

Luckily, I didn't lose too much in that crash - was able to get the important stuff off my C drive and my 1TB EHD has a switch, and it wasn't on! I don't normally keep it on anyway; I try to have what I'm currently using on my C drive.

Oooh, ouch! Crashes are sooooo painful! You have found one of my (many) soapboxes, Diane....as the members of the former Cottage know, I absolutely HARP on backing up! :D That is one reason I have so many EHD's PLUS Mozy back up.....

Diane, I am always late in getting to cards. That's why I love templates, I just grab when, group some papers to it and yea, pretty card ready to go.

I'm glad you didn't lose too much on your crash, been there myself. Not fun!

Well I have enjoyed reading all your comments on hybrid scrapping. But I have to chuckle about you gals going over to the "dark side" when you tried paper scrapping. You see, I paper scrapped for 5 years before coming over to the "dark side". Yes, thats what we paper scrappers call going digi !! But you know what? Both sides are the bright side!!! I still paper scrap, do a LOT of cards and stamping and a LOT of hybrid along with my digi scrapping. I love it all!!!!!

Time??? What's time???? I moved from Michigan to South Carolina to take care of my grandchildren 24/7 and time has just flown out the window!!! I went from having a huge scrapbook room to a tiny bedroom that houses all my earthly possessions including my scrapbook supplies. But I love the little rascals and wouldn't change a thing. Well-----MOST of the time!!!!!

Nancy, I'm with you....I paper scrapped long before I ever had a computer! I still have some of the things I bought back then...:o I cannot give up the touchy-feely aspect of "real" scrapping. But I also love my computer and the freedom that "undo" gives me....
