Haven't got mine yet Trina, am getting it for my birthday in middle December. I don't want PSE9 until I have finished the current course and I am only half way through.

Well Karen I have about decided I DONT want it...You know how you could open several things and then minimize them into your project bin... well aparently that has all changed..

Surely there has got to be a way to do that Trina. I'll do a google search and see what I can find for you.

Thank you so much Karen. I really appreciate your help.. I will check them out... hoping to sleep soon... have a (I think sick) dog... been up since 2 something.. its just about 5 here now. After my little hissy fit last night I did figure out you can toggle between the things... they are all at the top of the work space..and you can still pull things up from the project bin. I did play with the mask a bit and that looks fun.

Sounds like they put the tabbed interface in like they did in PSCS......and if that's the case, you can change that in the preferences. But I'm guessing here, since I don't "do" PSE any longer, Trina....

I sure hope so Karen.. it would be nice to be able to pay some of your kindness and patience back.... You have helped me so much getting going... But I have a hunch when you load it in your gonna hit the ground running... its so similiar to 8 , the only hiccup was that one thing about the floating windows.. well so far anyway lol

Hummmm---after reading all this----do I REALLY want PSE 9, even though I am having so many problems with PSE 8. I wish I had my 7 back!!!

When I started all this I had an old copy of PSE2 and went to 8. Now I am getting used to it... I wanted to go to 9 before I got to much further so if there were many changes I could learn them ... because I dont plan on going much further.. as far as buying another version..

I downloaded the try-out version, have 10 days left and so far I have not decided yet. I used PSE7 until now and in 9 I miss the duplicate layer and new layer icons. One click and it was done, now it is another step to verify that yes, indeed, I want a new layer. Shift-contrl-n is a 2-step funtion too.
There are several improvements that are really terrific, like the layer mask so in case I'm not just missing something about adding a new layer I will just have to get over the one step backward.

Not really Trina, just being realistic. The number of times I have said I won't be upgrading such-an-such a program and then upgraded . . .

What ole gals??? I'm not old!!!! BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Well, I've decided that I am going to wait until Karen gets 9 and plays with it and gives us her honest opinion!!!!
PSE 8 and I would get along fine if those $(%*&#& elements wouldn't jump all over the place when I click on them to move them!!!! It takes me 4 or 5 tries to grab an element!!! And then I have to keep clicking on the undo button!! It takes me twice as long to do a layout!!!

Well...I think I might be one of the "ole gals"... and I can honestly say and believe I would still be using PSE5, if it weren't for a bad motherboard and when Michael replaced it, I went to reinstall 5....Adobe gave me a rash of BS, saying I needed to repurchase it. I believe my mistake was when I purchased v5 I did it from the trial version and never purchased the CD...... So here I am with PSE8.... trying to learn this monster along with CS4 extended.....I have really NO.....intentions on going up or down.. none too soon!!!! But...this is just me!!!!!

I'm getting a bit more used to 9 have been just playing around with it... but I am also getting used to a new computer and windows 7. Hubby took my old laptop so I made a desktop wallpaper for him...I may eat my words it would not be the first time, I am after all my mothers daughter:>

Nancy, when you have the move tool (V) selected, have a look at the tool bar and make sure Auto Select Layer is UNCHECKED. Also with an image open > Ctrl+' (apostrophe) > Ctrl+; (semicolon) > View > Snap To > uncheck guide > View > Snap To > uncheck grid.
Let me know if this helps.

Yup thats How Karen and I know YOU WILL upgrade... Cause once you learn it you just have to have the new goodies. THere are worse things out there then upgrading. It is ture some times you long for the old and the comfortable but gals just gotta have fun and keep right on learning.

I am snickering through this whole thread....I can't help but wonder how many times I've said that I've bought my LAST edition of PSE or PS? I started out with PSE2 and PS5.5. Right now, I have PSE8 and PSCS5. I think I'm safe to say that I have finally left PSE, because I'm no longer teaching PSE. But I said I wouldn't upgrade from CS4...and I am so grateful that I did the upgrade to CS5! What a fabulous upgrade! Learning curve? Yep. Worth it? You betcha! AND....I also got Illustrator CS5 at the same time and I'm learning that one, too. erm.....I think I'm a glutton for punishment......:D
