I hope it is OK to post this, I don't want to get into trouble! ;)
Some time ago, I found a resizer action for PS but I have since changed versions. I am now using PSElements 7 and CS5. Does anyone have and use this action and do you use it in the same versions I have? I put it in my presets and cannot find it!!! It worked so well and I am having trouble getting my LOs small enough to upload here.
I hope some one can help, I'm PS Challenged!! :)

You have a resizer that makes it smaller???
I just do: image >resize > 600 x 600 pix. and save
Then, file >save for web etc......
Now, I have a wonderful action that resizes bigger.

I just go straight to save for web ... 600 x 600 pix then adjust the size :)

I do it the same way as Michi, except I resize to 500x500 -- is it better to use the 600 size?
And, Wendy, don't you need to scale down the resolution to 72 in the image>resize menu before using file>save to web?? Or did I not notice there is somewhere there to change the resolution, also?

Ladies, I did the resize for web thingy too but this is so much easier. One click and it's there! I did try to upload a couple of LOs that I thought I had at 600x600 at 72 and got the too big message! So with the resizer, it does it in one click and it is good to go!
But, Michi, I need to look for the make it bigger one!

some forums don't seem to accept 600x600 at 72 which is a pest cause you then need to resize again.
i cannot remmebr what my resizer action is for as I only use CS will look it up. I downloaded but never used it...the story of my life...being too greedy and thinking I NEEd it:D

I used to do the 500 pix, but changed. All the places I post accept the 600 pix.

Hmmm....anyone want an action to size for posting? They are frightfully easy to write....:D

I'm curious, Mariah.....do you ever get a message that says something like....file too large for this....are you sure; or words to that effect? The Photoshop boys (Kelby, Cross, and Kloskowski) always say to reduce the resolution first, but they never say why.....

I always reduce the resolution first and if I forget, I do get the message about the file being too large. Sometimes I ignore the message and it works okay but most times I cancel and start again.

G'day Karen! :) Yes, I've gone ahead and ignored the message; it worked all right, but slowly. But since I wrote an action for resizing, I lower the resolution first, then resize for web. It runs very quickly and no worries...
How's the weather there today?

I think the 'why' reason from the big guns, is...because a large file can place a strain on that 'save for web' spot and depending on ones computer they can get 'stuck'. I've had that happen when I kinda ran out of
RAM...then i get the dreaded: program not responding thingy.
and then I say...:p

Wendy,
I'm find that CS5 is really unstable with this. It often freezes the program when I attempt it. I usually now have to resize it first or use an action I have that flattens the image, then gives you option to sharpen. The default size for this action is 600, but it can be changed. I never had a problem with CS3 with straight out saving for the web.

I have that same problem Robyn. My CS4 freezes up so I resize to the 600 x 600 at 72 then do the save for web.
Now I have new problem and maybe you all might know an answer. Over Christmas I had the dread hard drive crash. For the most part I had everything backed up to disk some of which I am still reloading, but I had not backed up my layouts for the year of 2009, which at the time was only 12 layouts. They were all posted at sites too so I am able to get copies of the web version. So i'm curious if I take that layout and move it to an opened 12 x 12 at 300 dpi how will the image be once printed? Should I look for a resizer up action? Should I try to recreate them?

OK, here's a DUH question. I am new to the real PS remember. I put my resizer action in there and don't see it. Where do I look in CS5?
Sandy once told me to just use CS4...what I had at the time, and I would get used to it. I'm still trying Sandy!! <grin> I just can't find some things I used a lot in Elements.

I keep all my actions in an actions folder. Then when I want an action, I make sure the action palette is opened [from menu : window >actions]
Then on its top row, on the right is a teeny downfacing tri-angle.
Click it, and then Load actions.
Navigate to where you action is located on the hard drive and click it.
That's all.
Much easier than the pathways from any of the elements programs.
