Here's one I played with. No way I can compete with Robyn's beautiful orbs but that's why she is a designer! :) So I played, used a paper plate from the old Family Fun that we did in the old Den. It was by Jandy and was flat so I used the perspective and screwed up the look on the left side. I just left it !!

All the orbs are gorgeous and fabulous.

I remember when everyone was having fun making them at PET using PSE3. I found an orb that I made with PSE3 that I'll post later--it's not as artistic and creative as Robyn's and using Kay's quote: Robyn is a designer!

Karen,

Here's the photo that I used for my first Orb. It is an octagon-shaped window in my friend's bathroom!

I did this exactly to your tutorial - did not realize you can get different effects by adding the polarization again and again - have to try that!!

http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu151/beachy-keen/octagon-window-sfw.jpg

http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu151/beachy-keen/Orb_octStainGlasswin-sfw.jpg

One question I did have about your tut -- in the "Crop" instruction, you indicate to use a set crop of 12 inches x 12 inches, but you don't have any value in the Resolution box (so I didn't put any in either - but I normally put in 300 px). Is that correct to leave it blank?? I noticed when I saved my 3 orbs "to web" for the gallery, they showed up in the box as different resolutions.

Thanks,

I think the rule is to use the same resolution as the image when you set the crop tool. When you crop without setting the resolution, yes it does alter. When I resize an image, I change the resolution to 72 for the web before using Ctrl+Shift+Alt+S (save for web); and to 300 when saving for printing.

The only time when there is a change like the one I put in the gallery is if you do the Distort > Polar Coordinates > Rectangular to Polar again and again.

Thanks, Karen!
They are the two resolutions I use for those respective purposes. So even though I did not have a value in the Resolution box when cropping, I did change (the variable number) when I saved for web to 72 (so that means I did it correctly??).
