After there was a question about color swatches I decided to look at my PSE8 manual and extracted the appropriate section.
Because I have extracted this tutorial straight from the manual you will notice the Figs have very high numbers [grinning]
Color swatches (http://www.4shared.com/dir/zNjacZdW/ColourSwatchPSE8.html) are very easy to create and save - the password is colswatchpse8
By way of explanation, I wrote the manual from scratch when PSE8 first came out just a couple of weeks before my course was due to start . I already had the course manual using PSE7 written and printed out, so the students only got an electronic copy of the PSE8 manual.

Thanks Karen. This must be quite a 'War and Peace' manual in size!

Karen, thanks for this added info on Color Swatches - I need all the help I can get! Off to download - assume this also works with PSE7?? (I have 8, but it's not installed yet:D!)

Diane, bit the bullet and install PSE8. There are several great new additions to this version; for example there are guides available (much more versatile than the grids which are still there), Photomerge panorama and a nifty recompose action and the colour of the interface is, in my opinion, much better.

May I tiptoe in here? :D Karen's PSE 8 manual is magnificent! She has done an excellent job of de-mystifying the whole program...it is easy to follow and extremely comprehensive. I admire her for biting off such a huge project...and she even made it look easy!
