If you have an image on your computer that you'd like to insert into a post, you'll need to use an online image sharing site such Photobucket.com or Pixentral.com, both of which are free.
Photobucket requires you to create an account. Once you've done so, upload and save your image. Then click on the image to reveal a set of codes, which usually appear to the left or beneath your image. The easiest code to use is the one labeled IMG CODE. Select the code, copy it, and paste it directly into the forum thread. The image will stay in your post until you either remove it from the post or delete it from Photobucket, so this is also a good option for signature blinkies.
Pixentral does not require you to create an account, but images are generally removed from their servers after 30 days. After uploading your image, select the code (from beneath the image) labeled FORUM (I find it best to double click in the code to select all of it), then copy it and paste it directly into the forum thread.
