Rather than clogging up the Challenge forums with info about ACDSee, I thought I would post a thread in the Scrap Tools forum. This way, we can use this thread to discuss ACDSee Photo Manager, for those of you who use it.

I contacted ACDSee about not being able to see an Open Type font preview or make the font available in my software programs. They told me ACDSee does not recognize .otf fonts. They provided an email address for me to suggest this option to their developers, which I did.

So for Open Type fonts, you cannot use ACDSee to see previews of the font or make them available in your software programs. Only .ttf (True Type) fonts.

I knew the open fonts didn't work, but one can still open the font and minimize it. Then open the program (Cs or pse). It is 'usuable' in the same manner.

Michi, it did not work for me at all to minimize the open font. I wonder if I have to have ACDSee closed for this to work. Or if there's some setting someplace in Windows that I need to set for this to work.

hmmm. I do not know. I will check it out soon.
The "minimize" tip was passed out years before I ever had ACDSee.

As I mentioned previously, OT fonts are for postscript printers, which almost no one has anymore, so it is not surprising that ACDSee doesn't support it. But you can still install the font so that PSE or CS recognizes it. Go to Start, Control Panel, Fonts. Then from the File Menu, choose Install New Font and then navigate to where you stored the font. You'll need to close PSE and/or CS and re-open it before the font will show up in your list.

Vicki, I thought she did not want 'it' into her fonts folder.
The way I mentioned, does not install the font. It just "sits" there min.
and when opening the (adobe) program, is usuable.

I guess I missed that part, Michi!
