Hello everyone

I hope someone will be able to help me with this problem. When I put text onto a new layer the letters are much further apart than they used to be like this: J A N I C E instead of JANICE.

This happened after I used a template with text which was spaced (not from here :o) and I can't find anywhere in the programme to change it.

I had this problem once before but now I can't remember how to fix it charaacter 0269 Some one please help me, it's driving me nuts!!!

Janice, I don't know if this will help b-u-u-t-t it could be worth a try. With the "T" tool selected, you should be able to see a dark, small down widget to the left of the name of the font - left click and a little box will drop down, click on "reset tool".

Hope that helps,

Karen

Try this-
With the text tool active, go up In the option bar

Select the characters you want to adjust.
Click the Show Asian Text Options button in the options bar. If If not there, go to edit > preferences.
Select a percentage for Tsume from the pop‑up menu, and press the Enter or Return key. The greater the percentage, the tighter the compression between characters. At 100% (the maximum value), there is no space between the character’s bounding box and its em box.

applauseapplauseapplause Karen you are such a star, that was so quick and easy and worked like a dream. Thank you so much.

Michi - thanks for those detailed instructions I think I'll save them in case I want to alter the font spacing myself, but at the moment I am just thrilled that I have been able to reset it!

[taking a bow] It was a pleasure Janice. The reset tool is available for all the tools.

I haven't done this at hummie's yet, but am so glad I read this, as I was wondering if it could be done...and how!...just yesterday!

I found the Asian text thingy (technical term) way back when - and I am so glad I did.

As for the reset tool option?

It was a long time coming, but I finally started using it when one of the tools recently went wonky (another technical term) on me.

There are so many things to remember, I'm glad there are threads like this to remind me how to fix things.

So for all you beginners out there - don't think just because someone has been playing with Photoshop for years - they don't need answers to simple questions.

I want everyone to feel very comfortable asking questions - even if they think they are too basic to ask. I love answering questions - no matter what level.

I agree Janice - there is no such thing as a "stupid question", only questions you don't know the answers to and we all need our memory jogged.

Absolutely! There is no stupid question! It took me a while to learn about the reset button, but when I did I was so happy! Saves so many frustrating moments.
