Okay, this is for you geeks! I received the following email from a computer tech friend wanting me to try this out. I'm a computer chicken , so am afraid to try it. He's wanting to see if this happens on 64-bit computers. If any of you want to try it, let me know the results, and I'll pass them along to him.
Here's his email:
Hi Lana,
I found this by accident:
Use Firefox 9.01:
1 - Go to the Google home page www.google.com (http://www.google.com/)
2 - In the search box, type do . That's dee and oh and then one space. Wait one second.
3 - On both my XP and Windows 7 computers, Firefox will spin the home page 360 degrees.
Um......WHAT'S UP WITH THAT??
-eL-
ps: I'd like to know if your machine does it too with 64 bitz.

Then what happens after it spins? Not sure I'm brave enough.

He said nothing happens. After it does a 360, that's the end of it. Strange.

It'a just a cool programing trick Google built. It surfaced last November - also called "do a barrel roll". Such things are referred to as "easter eggs" because you have to hunt for them.
Google programmers are very innovative - and often quite amusing.

Interesting Google "Easter eggs". Adobe has "Easter eggs" in its software. LOL--I wondered why they were called Easter eggs when they have nothing to do with Easter. Now I know it's because we have to hunt for them!

Lots of software programs have "easter eggs" - kind of a geeky thing and the true geeks delight in figuring out where other geeks have hidden these little goodies.

Back in my "geekier" days, I would spend a lot of time hunting for Easter eggs! The Windows OS even has Easter eggs built in...didja know that? Also games and proggies like Photoshop. Yes, there are even Easter eggs in Photoshop....:D
