Thank you, Techie Vicki, for this tut on Inserting Gallery Image into Forum Thread!! Boy, have I missed these lessons!
I have printed it out to refer to because I STILL have not figured out how to make my image clickable (only the link)! Maybe you and A will be able to get through to me this time - LOL!!

A question...... I get how to do everything in the tut, but how can I make my LO in the forum post smaller? Is there a way to resize it there?
Thanks, and you did a great job on the tut, Vicki.

Kay, if you click on the image once it's there, you should be able to drag the image in from one of the corner handles - like you would in PSE or CS.

I thought I tried that... I did get the handles, just wouldn't drag. I will try again. Thanks!! Smile

It's not your imagination, Kay. I just tried it and although it looks like it's resizing to make the image smaller, when you save it reverts. So it looks like we can't control the size. Bummer!

Just testing for smaller image here. I copied the thumbnail picture and pasted it here and then put the link into the image.

Actually I always just copy and paste the image and then put in the link. It won't work for me the other way......I just tried it; when I copy and paste the URL I have just a little red cross instead of an image!! And yet, I know that 'my' way doesn't work for Sandy...........work that one out??[/QUOTE]
That's how it works for me too, Robyn. I just post the clickable link above the copied and pasted layout image (in the thread), so that you have to click on the link to go to the gallery image.
I do have a layout to post, so I am going to try Vicki's tut again, but I may end up having to put it in the above way.....we shall see!

Diane..........you can post the link INTO the image. Just highlight the image and then click on the link icon. You will notice that you can click on my thumbnail/image in the above post.

Vicki, I did upload my layout to the gallery, but I could not get the image to show up in the thread, let alone get it to be clickable! I followed the instructions and all I got in the reply thread were two continuous rows of code. I thought maybe when I clicked to submit, the image would appear, but no dice. But the link does go directly to the gallery image, which I was surprised it did as it said something like "no cache1" at the end; I am used to seeing a number code at the end which is connected to the layout. It seems like a "default' link to me and wonder if it will link up to the next person's layout that posts(?).
I am so confused as this site is similar to others I have used, yet some things don't work the same way. Like when you underline, make bold, or make a color in the reply box, a code shows up on either side (until you submit). On similar sites, the "action" shows up right away as to how it will look when you submit it.
EDIT: I just had a thought - I must check my User CP to see if it is on WYSIWYG - I think that may make a difference. Will let you know!
EDIT AGAIN: Changed User CP to WYSIWYG - did not make a difference in trying to link the forum image to the gallery. Maybe for the next upload I will try it through Firefox(?), but if I remember correctly that did not work either when you and A were helping me with this before!

Kay,
You can just copy and paste the thumbnail, instead of the main image.
Like this.................
I just then insert the URL link (from the bigger image) into the pasted picture.
..........although as I have said previously this simple copy and paste method with the image doesn't seem to work for everybody. I know it doesn't work for Sandy. I don't know why that is. Vicki's method will NOT work for me. I've tried it in IE and also Firefox and everytime I get a red cross instead of an image. I don't understand why that is.

MAJOR portion of humble pie here.
If I bothered to actually READ all of Vicki's instructions, I would do much better!!!
Yes, upon actually letting these instruction take up temporary residence in my so called brain (as opposed to letting it go straight through the vacant space! LOL) I DID get the image instead of the red cross.
Am I forgiven Vicki? You know I'm just a doddery old git!!

So Vicki's method works just as well if you right click on the THUMBNAIL image (for a smaller image in the thread )..............but to make the image clickable, you will need to copy the URL in your browser's address bar of the LARGE image.
The main difference in what I was doing and what Vicki was saying as far as actually inserted the image for Internet Explorer is...........
I was just right clicking on the image, then copy and paste.
Vicki is saying right click and get the address from the properties box and then use the 'insert the image' option.
In both cases you then have to select and copy the URL in your browser’s address bar of the larger image and insert that link into the image to make if clickable.
Clear as mud! Have I confused everyone even more? Possibly!! This is why I don't write tuts!

Or for the smaller image...........takes up less space on the server..........

On the top post, I was able to incorporate link after copy/pasting the photo from the gallery and copy/pasting link to page after highlighting photo (like you highlight text.)
On the bottom post - using the thumbnail - the link didn't work - I could highlight the photo - and the link icon worked, but the link itself isn't working.
But I like the idea of using the thumbnail - that seems a nice size.
I got the bounding box on both tries - but I could not resize using it.

The cats are like ceramic figurines, but I think they are made from concrete since they are really heavy and easily chipped and scratched. I think the artist used a mold. The eyes are like marbles and they use broom pieces for whiskers.

My link is working on the thumbnail image...........
No you can't resize with the bounding box. That is why it's good to just use the thumbnail and get a smaller image in the thread. Doesn't take as long to load then, which is good for people with dial up or slower connections.

Janice,
Are you copying the url in your browser's address bar of the LARGER image?
