I have an Epson 1400, and have just started ordering all my Inks and paper from Red River. Does anyone else use this company? Their papers are outstanding, and so is their service.

I just bought the same one as Andrea! An HP PhotoSmart Premium C309a All-in-One with wireless or USB capabilities. Has print, copy, fax, and scan. I've not even had it a week, but pleased so far. Has five ink cartridges; don't have to change out the photo black/gray. I bought mine at Sam's Club for $80 off the regular price.

I might add, that it prints up to 8.5x11. That's the size LOs I create.

I have the Epson R1800 and I just love it, does a wonderful job! I mostly use Epson papers as they work so well with the Epson printer. The Red River is gorgeous, too.

I still have my old Epson R800, too, still working.

Someday I'd like to get the R1900 (or whatever they may have at the time), but for now the 800 and the 1800 use the same ink - that's a really good thing for me!:)

I have an HP Photosmart 7960 and really liked it until I got Windows 7 when my old computer crashed. (It had Windows XP). The printer did not work with Windows 7 and I searched forums for answers and finally downloaded a driver from HP. It works, but not the same as before. Same thing with my scanner.

We also have an HP colorjet which is networked and I had to hunt a driver for it too, and it works same as before.

Technology sure can be frustrating! But it's great when everything works.

Phyllis, this is exactly what happened to me. I had an HP Photosmart 8450 and a Visioneer scanner. Had to get rid of both of them. This is why I went with the new Photosmart all in one C309a.

I had the same experience, Phyllis. Had to get new drivers from HP for my all-in-one (which I have had for several years). The software is different now, but the printer works just fine. Oddly enough, the 5740 had a driver bundled with the operating system, so I didn't have to worry about it.

I have the Epson R1900 also. It's the best printer I've had. My prints are awesome and everyone I show them to - agrees.

I use Epson 8.5x11 semi-gloss for my 8x8's.

(yea, I know, it prints 12x12, but I like my 8x8 LO's)

I've never printed a 12x12 - but I have some 13x19 semi-gloss paper just sitting here - I had the idea of making a big print to frame - but never got around to it. LOL

I bought the large format printer because it was the "future" of printing even though I knew I would still print 8x8 for my LO's.

Amazingly, Epson does not make 12x12 paper except for their "Scrapbook Paper" - which is matte coated creamy colored cardstock which is 10 mil thick. It prints a beautiful greeting card, but I don't want matte for scrapbook pages.

Why would Epson make a printer - I assume is geared toward the scrapbooking community - and then not offer 12x12 paper?

A good question, Janice....and I would still kill to have this printer! I'm glad to hear that you are so happy with the quality of the prints. Just out of curiosity...where do you get your wide format paper?

Traci - the wide format paper is
Epson Premium Photo Paper Semi-Gloss S041327
13x19 67 lb 10.4 mil

I do believe they have it in glossy, too.

Epson has matte coated on both sides - 12x12 - called Scrapbook paper.

Some Epson products can be found in stores, but mostly, I use their website when they have sales. Epson is not a favorite choice by most brick and mortar stores - they have little shelf space. I find it easier to shop on-line.

I find it easier to shop on-line.

Thanks for the info, Janice. Like you, I generally find it easier to shop online...though mostly because I live in a small town. Most places that might even have a prayer of carrying specialty papers are some distance away.

If you ever decide to test the waters on another brand of paper for your wide format scrap pages, Red River carries a number of different wide format papers in both glossy and semi-gloss finishes. I can't give you any specs because I don't have a wide format printer, so haven't checked it out. But I DO know that I love their papers for 8 1/2x11 and cards.
